+ This Read Me file is much shorter!!! Why? Because the documentation has been revised to reflect *all* the features! The documentation is supplied in both MacWrite 5.0 and Word 3.0 formats. The Word format is preferred because that's what was used to create them and some features unique to Word have been used.
+ If you received DAfx from an on-line service or shareware distribution channel, here are the files that make up the DAfx package:
** DAfx 1.30 (the Desk Accessory)
* DAfx Quick Start (a text file that briefly describes most features)
** DAfx Sampler & Descriptions (a MacPaint picture describing how some
of the effects in DAfx work.
** DAfx Docs (Word) (the complete documentation in Word 3.x format)
** DAfx Docs (MW) (the complete documentation in MacWrite 5.x format)
* DAfx Icons (a small application which contains the Icons for DAfx
documents, undo documents, and preferences file. It can also be
launched to display a graphics demo and describe the benefits of
registering.
(Files marked with "**" are esential to the DAfx package!)
+ What's new:
* The keyware system now works with the Font/DA Juggler and better with
Suitcase!!
* An offset bug in the CGA conversion has been fixed.
* There's a few more options in the Preferences dialog.
* The Cut menu item in the Edit menu is now available.
* The spray-paint can now has an airbrush effect with the Option-key.
* And fixed other miscellaneous twitches and glitches.
* Two other products have been developed: Ez-Mail, which was available since June, and Turbo View, coming soon. See the docs for complete descriptions and details on discounts for DAfx preferred customers!
That's it! I hope!? Don't be surprised if you come across some undocumented features. They are added almost daily and it's hard to keep track of all of them. Please let me know if you find one so we can let others know too!
Also, THIS MARKS THE END OF THE DAfx version 1.xx series (again)! (Unless some major bug is found.) Version 2.00 is underway and will have many new and exciting features. Got a suggestion? Get it in now! And if you're contemplating signing up for DAfx, you had better do it soon! Effective with the 2.00 release, there will be a price increase of all packages. (Current preferred customers are void of upgrade fees until the color version. Which implies that version 2.00 WILL MOST LIKELY NOT HAVE COLOR.)
Finally, DAfx has been available on CompuServe since version 1.20.
DAfx versions 1.xx were written in MPW Pascal and assembly. Beginning with version 2.00, I hope to have DAfx completely in MPW C and assembly to reduce the size of the DA and to improve performance.
